2011 Oakland students working on an organic farm in Costa Rica
This summer, 10 students from Coliseum College Prep Academy (in Oakland, CA) went on a 10 day trip to Costa Rica.

Students studied conservation and sustainable development, explored the cloud forests, ziplined through the jungle, experienced Costa Rica’s amazing diversity (from parrots to howler monkeys and poison dart frogs to bats), and got involved in various volunteer projects - such as helping this organic farm in Monteverde!

The students felt they had a life-changing trip, and that the service projects were their favorite memories from their journey. As one of the students, Miguel, said: "The service project we did made me feel special. It gave me a feeling that I made a big change in Costa Rica and made me realize I want to go back and teach people how to make a difference at home."
