Public Beach

Umm Suqeim Beach
Subtle waves, calm coast, and beautiful views, this beach is a local secret, especially on weekdays and Saturdays. Signposted by the Burj Al Arab hotel, Umm Suqeim Beach is a spacious, no fuss strip of Dubai’s coastline. Offering a quiet escapade from the bustling shops and restaurants that occupy other beaches, Umm Suqeim is the spot for those who prefer lounging with a book and sunbathing in the calm. Better yet, Umm Suqeim is the only beach in the UAE, where nighttime swimming is permitted, as of May, 2017. Take advantage of the post-sunset light breeze, the softly lit Burj, and the sound of the waves with a nighttime swim.

Sunning with the Slavs
Last year, the UAE had one million visitors from Russia and its former Soviet Republics visit Dubai. Of those one million tourists, (and 55,000 Russian UAE residents) all of them have planted their snowy whiteness on this prime piece of beachfront real estate at some point or another during their holiday. Russian Beach, a.k.a., Moscow Beach but officially known at Jumeriah Public Beach, may sound like Sevastopol on the Crimean Black Sea Coast at the height of summer, but the evocative call to prayer from the nearby Jumeriah Mosque minaret and the iridescent blue water lapping at the shore soon shatters the illusion. Speedos are, nevertheless, highly encouraged.
