Public Beach
Wimpy waves and calm coasts—Dubai's Public Beach (also known as Umm Suqeim Beach) is as peaceful as it gets. This local secret is removed from the bustling shops and restaurants occupying (ruining?) other UAE waterfronts—perfect for vacationers who prefer sunbathing with a book to buying designer sunglasses. The coolest thing about this escape, though, is that it's the only UAE beach where you can swim until midnight; two solar-powered "Smart Poles" light up the beach after sunset.More Recommendations

Sunning with the Slavs
Last year, the UAE had one million visitors from Russia and its former Soviet Republics visit Dubai. Of those one million tourists, (and 55,000 Russian UAE residents) all of them have planted their snowy whiteness on this prime piece of beachfront real estate at some point or another during their holiday. Russian Beach, a.k.a., Moscow Beach but officially known at Jumeriah Public Beach, may sound like Sevastopol on the Crimean Black Sea Coast at the height of summer, but the evocative call to prayer from the nearby Jumeriah Mosque minaret and the iridescent blue water lapping at the shore soon shatters the illusion. Speedos are, nevertheless, highly encouraged.
