Providence ParkOutside Portland, the city’s best-known professional team may be the Trail Blazers, but the most beloved teams among locals are the Thorns and the Timbers. The Major League Soccer Timbers and the National Women’s League Thorns both play in Providence Park, on a site that’s been home to a stadium ever since the first one was built for the Multnomah Athletic Club in 1926. Today, the place buzzes with the Timbers Army and the Rose City Riveters, fans of the two clubs. This being Portland, there are food trucks parked outside, local concessionaires like Bunk Bar inside, and the lilting sounds of singing soccer fans throughout. A renovation is slated to be completed in time for the 2019 season, adding another 4,000 seats.
