“The green open spaces in the park are ideal for running, and of course, my kids love the amusement park, the Wurstelprater, which is what most people are referring to when they mention the Prater.” - Hatmaker Klaus Mühlbauer on Leopoldstadt, Vienna. Read more about his local's take on Vienna here.
Where do you get the most thrilling views of Vienna? Not in the Giant Ferris Wheel but in the World's Highest Chain Carousel. Both spin round, and both are located at the Vienna Prater amusement park. But only makes you really high.
When you board, take off your sandals and any other loose items (no cameras allowed). Take a seat and wait for the carousel to slowly start spinning while the seats are gradually lifted to more than 100 metres above ground. (for comparison: the Giant Ferris Wheel is 65 metres high).
The ride is smooth enough for you to enjoy the view: the city centre, the Vienna Woods, the Danube, and the rest of the town.
This is an absolute must for summer sightseeing, even for scaredy-cats (including me).
