Praça Quinze de Novembro

Rio is not only carnaval
Because Rio de Janeiro is not only sun and carnaval, its center is a good spot to see beautiful old buildings like the National Library, the Municipal Theater which was closed for renovations while I was there, the bakery Colombo and its delicious cakes and on Saturdays the antiques market in Praça 15 de Novembro. Old magazines and books, used furniture, collections of matchboxes with vintage drawings and creative slogans, collections of old pencils, old notes and coins, dolls of our childhood and superhero comics, clothes and other unidentified objects.
The fair existed since 1976. It’s beneath an overpass and it’s considered the oldest fair in Latin America.
