When I walk down the Avenida Liberdade to the Praca dos Restauradores, 24, I have to stop and gaze at the Eden Theater. I have great appreciation for this old building. The exterior of the Eden has been restored to its former beauty. It has a beautiful pink marble facade and is an imposing architectural marvel. The Art Deco Eden Theater opened in 1931 and was a major theater-cinema building.It offered silent movies and plays. With the decline in movie and theater goers the theater was no longer a popular venue. It closed in 1989 and was unused for years. In 2001, ir reopened as a 134 room apartment-hotel. There is an outdoor swimming pool and a terrace bar. The panoramic view of Lisbon from that terrace is reputed to be outstanding whether day or night. The Eden is listed as a must see attraction for its Art Deco facade.
