Portage Glacier Cruise
From mid-May through mid-September, you can take a cruise on Portage Lake, about 45 minutes south of Anchorage, and see the massive Portage Glacier on the Turnagain Arm of the Kenai Peninsula in the Chugach National Forest. Spend an hour touring Portage Lake with narration from a National Forest Service guide, taking pictures of “true blue” glaciers from the ship's open-air decks. Some tours include transportation to and from Anchorage, as well as a stop at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center.
