More than 400 years of history and more than a church
Porta Coeli, at the crest of a hill in the town of San Germán, is a beautiful ancient church, now a museum of religious art, built in 1609. Stepping towards it, feels as the start of a great discovery. The structure itself is an art piece and it exhibits paintings and carvings from 18th and 19th century. The view from the church gives an interesting feeling of being part of the history of this town, which still conserves a lot of historical architecture and history. Porta Coeli, Latin for Gateway to Heaven, is a must see in San Germán, a town in the southwest of Puerto Rico that might be a little off path but will reward you with a sense of art and culture.
