One of my favorite discoveries of Kohala, Pololu Valley provides not only a fantastic view, but a rewarding hike. We thought there was just a short hike down to the beach where you can walk along the shore or valley's creek. However, we somehow found a trail that took us way up to the tops of the cliffs and into the second valley. The hike was so diverse with beach, brush, and rocks, I didn't want it to end. We thought we'd be gone for an hour and ended up stretching it to three. Reaching the top of the first cliff was victorious and welcomed with the most powerful winds I've experienced. It was nice to rest our muscles on the sole bench and eat the apple guavas we collected along the way.
