Once a monks' refectory, the Plymouth Gin or Black Friars Distillery has been making spirits since 1697. One of the oldest buildings in Plymouth, the medieval half-timbered hall is said to have housed the Mayflower pilgrims before their departure for the New World. Tours—there are three a day to choose from—show you the ins and outs of gin-making and explore the distillery's history. All of them end with a gin tasting. You can also purchase a bottle to take with you.
