Playa del Carmen, Riviera Maya
My, what big shoes you have.
While strolling barefoot down the sandy shoreline of the Mexican Riviera’s Playa del Carmen, a little girl scurried up alongside me. To maintain her poise, she slowed down in the nick of time to artistically position herself into my shot. Look closely. Notice how she’s carrying a pair of sandals several sizes too big for her own two feet? As I later found out, beyond the thatched roofs and bright umbrellas, she delivered those sandals to the local fútbol hero. Evidently, he didn’t need shoes for his fancy footwork with the soccer ball.
