Plant Miami Serves Up Luxury in Wynwood's Sacred SpaceSix years ago, a highlight of going to Wynwood would be free tacos and cheap beer at a dive bar on Miami Avenue. Now, the area has blossomed into a creative hub for entertainment, art, dining and wellness. The area, has grown and every day you can turn a corner and stumble on a new restaurant, bar or brewery where a parking lot of warehouse once stood.
I recently stumbled onto Plant, a vegan restaurant at Wynwood's Sacred Space. Upon entry is a scenic reflection pond and mood lighting - the city skyline in the background. We dined as the sun was setting and the pink sky reflected off the still water.
Before ordering from the outstanding selection of organic red wines, try a cocktail. The menu is earthy and flavorful and given that it's a healthy menu, there's no chance of a hangover - right?
I'm a cheese lover, but always trying to cut out dairy. I was thrilled to sample the vegan cheeseboard made from white cashew cheese including a black truffle, blue and vegan cheddar - all served with seedy crackers and olives. The black truffle will fool you into thinking you're eating a French aged soft cheese for sure.
The dining room is minimalistic, with clean white walls, symmetric design and funky light fixtures. The flow to the outside patio is seamless.
While there were many menu highlights, the harvest dumplings, filled with sweet potato in a coconut wrapper with ginger foam was a standout. The presentation was pristine and the taste was out of this world.
My biggest recommendation is the Asian Bowl, which I could eat every single day for lunch if I had the option. The mixture is a combination of oyster mushrooms, kelp noodles, bok choy (my favorite), pickled daikon, avocado, sprouts and sesame sauce.
I have to admit, I'm not vegan but if I had the option of dining at Plant every day, I definitely could be!
