To Market
Neuchâtel is perhaps most famous as one of the centers of
Switzerland's watch making industry, but it is also a must-visit destination for culinary travelers. The town's Place des Halles hosts a farmers' market on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from April till the end of October. Here you'll find not only seasonal produce but also some of the region's best cheeses, sausages, and chocolates. After you're done shopping, you may want to stop for a glass of absinthe, another regional specialty. One of travel advisor Cari Gray of Gray & Co.'s favorite places to sample the region's cuisine is Brasserie Le Cardinal, just a few minutes' walk from the market.
