Pizzeria Delfina

2406 California St, San Francisco, CA 94115, USA

Opened in 2005 by husband and wife duo Annie and Craig Stoll, Pizzeria Delfina’s original Mission location became an instant hit in San Francisco. The pizzeria is an annex to Delfina restaurant, their first James Beard Award–winning venture, and the small space quickly fills up—and spills onto the sidewalk—with customers looking to try their Neapolitan-inspired pizzas. In 2008, Delfina opened a second location in Pacific Heights; today, you can eat their thin crust and fresh ingredients as far south as Burlingame and Palo Alto. The original Mission Delfina is open seven days a week: Mondays from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.; Tuesdays through Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Fridays from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Saturdays from noon to 11 p.m.; and Sundays from noon to 10 p.m.

Mmm Mmmm good on San Francisco time

As a New Yorker when you hear about a great restaurant it’s expected that there will be a long wait, up tight staff, and they will rush you out to keep the crowd moving but the trade off is great food - which is why Delfina was such a pleasant surprise. You can indeed have your pie and eat it too. (bad joke) I waited no longer then 15 mins on a Friday night, was greeted with nothing but smiles and the food was AMAZING. The Panna pie, a great glass of wine and candle light - a perfect match for a Californian night.

Thin Crust Pizza of The Gods

Ask any San Francisco pizza lover about their favorite pizza place in San Francisco and you won’t get an answer - the locals are too cool to pronounce a winner or use such a superlative. However, if you ask a local, “Have you been to Pizzaria Delfina?” The answer you will get will include the words, “loooooooovvvee” and “OMGIT’SOGOOD.” In the Valencia “gourmet corridor” and in Pacific Heights, patrons place their names on a chalkboard list to get in line for this much-loved thin crust, wood-fired pizza. Pizza Pilgrimage in San Francisco

Chicago has its deep dish and New York has its large, flat pies, but San Francisco’s pizza scene is defined by thin crust, Neapolitan-style pizzas. Delfina Pizzeria in the Mission neighborhood is always crowded, but wine is often served to those in line. Una Pizza Napoletana, with its beautiful tiled oven right in the center, is decidedly limited in its menu—all the better to showcase the quality ingredients. And at Tony’s Pizza Napoletana in North Beach, choose from a wide variety of pizza styles—New Haven to Roman—all cooked by a champion pizza maker.
