Cup of Piper's

As a Paducah native I have witnessed first hand the exponential growth of my beloved river city. With dozens of local businesses thriving the Lowertown Historic Arts Distric has provided artists with refuge and a chance to see their dreams come to life. Paducah offers residency programs though the Art Guild as well as many other art opportunities available through the Mainstreet Association, the Lowertown Neighborhood Alliance and a few others.

Paducah has been recognized by the UN as a UNESCO Creative City predominantly for its Folk Art and Crafts. The international bi-annual quilt show attracts quilters from across the globe to participate in the week long festivities at the National Quilt museum.

Some of the best locations to visit in Paducah are centered on Artisan living, and housed in some beautifully preserved historic buildings. Paducah is located halfway between the large cities of Nashville and St. Louis making it a perfect place to stop off and grab lunch, dinner, coffee, or a hotel for the evening.

Here is a list of my recommendations for a stay in Paducah.

Best coffee: Piper's Tea and Coffee located in the historic Coca-Cola Bottling Facility.

Grab a Beer: Dry Ground is located at the rear end of the same building as Pipers. These local Craft Brewers are making headlines with their phenomenonal beers.

Grab a Bite: The Freighthouse is a farm-to-table restaurant that offers local fresh options for any diet. Menu changes weekly, and be sure to call to make your reservation in advance!

Crash for the night: The 1857 Hotel is located near the central fine dining and entertainment of Paducah including The freighthouse. The hotel also offers reservations for groups, seminars, and other large meetings in their beautiful social commons area.
