A different perspective on this landmark.
The Arthur Ravenel, Jr. Bridge is a cable stayed bridge that spans the Cooper River from Charleston to Mount Pleasant. The bridge is best viewed from below. There is a pier park on the Mount Pleasant side that offers a lovely place to stroll and spectacular views. There is also a cultural center nearby where you can learn about sweat grass weaving. Attempts have been made to rename the bridge due to the racially controversial comments of Ravenal, a politician who served for 30+ years in various political offices. Don't you agree that "The Sweetgrass Skyway" would be a much better name.
