Piacenza, a delicious and easy day trip from Milan
Piacenza is a super easy drive (or train ride) from Milan. It sits near the banks of the Po river, just over the border into Emilia-Romagna.
This small town is so charming and a little quirky in the best possible way. Dating back to 218 b.c., it was constructed by the Romans as a military colony. In 2015 it is a real bustling little city full of university students, families, and people working and socializing.
The streets are full of bars, cafés, & shops. Emilia-Romagna is well known for being a food lovers paradise, and Piacenza has many specialty food shops and delicious local dishes to try, such as tortelli di zucca or the local Salame Piacentino, (salami produced in Piacenza)- which you must try when you go!
