French Dip Sandwiches at Philippe The Original in Los AngelesPhilippe’s is a necessary stop if you want a terrific sandwich along with a great atmosphere. Walking into Philippe’s is like stepping back in time with all the signs and artifacts in the restaurant. But the real draw is the food and specifically, the sandwiches. It is said that Philippe’s invented the French Dip sandwich in 1918. Today, the sandwiches are the same quality but the prices have changed a bit. Philippe’s also makes their own mustard which is a great accompaniment but it is quite hot so beware. Note: Philippe's get crowded despite having 10 server lines so get there early and enjoy.
