The Essence of Wales: sheep, sea, and a mini-Stonehenge
This was my favorite place in Wales. Follow the signs off of the A487 highway before Newport, and you'll find yourself on a narrow little road overgrown with trees and bushes. You'll soon reach the parking area. Open the gate, and walk out into the rolling green pasture, covered, like most of Wales, with sheep. You'll be able to stroll right up to and beneath the huge stones. Look out over the hills to the sea. The only sound will be the sheep. It's just a little detour, but it'll do your soul good.
