If Arnold "Pumping Iron" Schwarzenegger were a pie, he'd look like this.
The Peninsula Creamery, which opened for business in 1923, presents such standard American cuisine as hamburgers, french fries, and Reuben sandwiches. Though the dinners, lunches, and "breakfusts" are somewhat better than your run-of-the-mill pseudo-1950s-era diner and the selection of meals is more diverse, you won’t find anything that particularly stands out — except, perhaps, the $195 “Bubbly Burger” (i.e., any choice of burger with a bottle of chilled Dom Pérignon thrown in). This is Palo Alto, after all.
The real draw to this eatery is the desserts, including ice cream, cakes, unusually robust pies, and a variety of other fresh, store-baked pastries. Plus, if it’s more convenient, there is another Creamery about a mile away at the Stanford Shopping Center.
Bon appétit, and remember to wipe off the milkshake mustache!
