Peninsula Beverly Hills
A grand hotel in the Old World tradition, the Peninsula Beverly Hills oozes luxury and decadence from its gilded chandeliers and wood-paneled walls. From the moment a white-gloved valet opens the oversized front doors, the entire experience unfolds like an ode to the kind of living only royalty should have; except that, at the Peninsula, every guest is treated like royalty. First, there’s elegant marble bathrooms—larger than some apartments—outfitted with both soaking tub and shower, and the softest bathrobes imaginable. Then, it’s up to the rooftop for a leisurely alfresco breakfast alongside wheeling and dealing studio types before moving over to a poolside cabana for a few hours of basking and celebrity-spotting. Don’t forget to squeeze in time for a spa treatment—The Peninsula Spa being the beauty and relaxation regimen of more than a few big names. Afternoon tea in the Living Room can’t be missed, thanks both to the decadent spread of scones and finger sandwiches, and the live harp music wafting through the air.

Even though the hotel is in the heart of Beverly Hills, with trendy shops and restaurants just blocks away, the hotel’s free Rolls Royce service can drop guests anywhere they need to go in the neighborhood.

Neighborhood Vibe
The hotel is hidden behind a wall of trees on Santa Monica Boulevard, one of L.A.’s biggest streets, just around the corner from Beverly Hills’ ritzy Golden Triangle. That area’s leafy, pretty streets are home to iconic eateries such as Bouchon and see-and-be-seen brunch spots like the Ivy. Catch a musical performance at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts or peruse the many art galleries, including Mouche. The international shopping mecca of Rodeo Drive is just a quick drive away, and legendary lounge Trader Vic’s sits across the street.

Insider Tips
Who's it best for: Couples and discerning travelers who love classic, Old World luxury and service.
Our favorite rooms: All of the nearly 200 rooms, suites, and villas at The Peninsula are opulent, elegant, and completely luxurious, but a few take the cake. The Peninsula Suite, Royal Patio Suite, Grand Deluxe Suite, and Grand Deluxe Suite by Nancy Corzine are alternately known as the Green, White, Pink, and Blue suites, respectively. Each is decorated in a unique color and style, one with gilded chinoiserie, another more European art deco. But all are big enough to live in, with sprawling marble bathrooms and oversized private terraces.
Guided excursions: Explore L.A. in a whole new way with the hotel’s signature Peninsula Academy program of insider experiences, such as a guided tour of Beverly Hills art galleries, followed by a private art lesson and afternoon tea with the great-grandson of Pierre-Auguste Renoir. The experiences aren’t cheap, but The Peninsula offers only the pinnacle of luxury.
