Peggy's Cove
Peggy's Cove
On the coast southwest of Halifax, the sparsely populated Peggy's Cove is a picture-perfect fishing town. It has two main attractions: an iconic red and white lighthouse atop a granite outcropping and a monument carved by William E. deGarthe depicting fishermen, their families, St. Elmo and the mysterious Peggy who inspired the town's name. Be sure to wear flat shoes with traction: The boulders around the lighthouse, especially on rainy days, can be dangerously slippery.
