Patricks Point State Park

Agate Beach in Patrick’s Point state park is located near the heart of redwood country in Northern California. There is plenty of good hiking amongst the ferns and redwoods. Since I’m somewhat of a rock-hound, we drove here to check out Agate Beach. A short hike of switchbacks takes you down to this beach. It’s not a great place for swimming due to the nature of the powerful waves found here, but it is an excellent place to find agates, jasper, jade and other semi-precious stones polished from years of tumbling in the salt water. The beach is wide and there are many places to sit and enjoy natures beauty.
