Basque chef Martín Berasategui, whose restaurants have racked up seven Michelin stars, opened Passion at Riviera Maya’s Paradisus adults-only resort in Playa del Carmen in 2011. The restaurant remains a destination for food lovers who enjoy creative cuisine inspired by molecular gastronomy concepts. The seven-course dinner might start with a sea scallop ceviche and end with a celery sorbet palate cleanser. While the dishes are inspired by international influences, many ingredients are sourced locally and the overall experience is a satisfying splurge.
