San Sebastian is truly a magical place to celebrate New Years Eve.
I would fly to here for the sole purpose of spending this holiday in Parte Vieja, just to experience the elation that is perhaps only found here on this special night (and of course to eat pintxos until the morning light and drink txakoli, the famous white wine of the Basque region.)
As the clock turned to midnight, the whole town was enveloped in the sound of cheers and clock tower chimes from the Basilica of Saint Mary. I could actually feel a vibration in the air. The sounds echoed together in the cobbled streets of Parte Vieja and the crescent shape of the still water of the bay Playa Concha.
