When I'm traveling for an extended period of time I start to miss the comforts of home. No matter how fabulous my hotel is, sometimes I miss the simple pleasure of cooking a meal. On a recent visit to London I decided to rent an apartment so I could feel more like a local. I heard about a new company called One Fine Stay. It's like a more refined AirBnB. One Fine Stay has a collection of fabulously designed homes which the owners rent out. The big difference is the small hotel-like perks: bathrooms are kitted out with fancy toiletries; there’s a maid service if you want it; a breakfast basket is supplied with coffee, tea, biscuits, and snacks. There is even a 24/7 concierge on call. I split my time between an industrial-chic flat in the East End and a Moroccan-inspired flat in Notting Hill so I could get a feel for both neighborhoods. My favorite part of One Fine Stay was that each apartment owner loads an iPhone with their favorite places to eat, things to do, and adventures to go on in their neighborhood.
One Fine Stay is also in New York City and recently launched in L.A. and Paris. The above is a photo from Rue des Martyrs, a Parisian apartment in the 9th arrondissement.
