Underwater hiking
Where the mountains fall into the sea, the National Park at Port Cros is only partially visible from the shore, as nearly half of the park’s land is underwater. With plenty of hiking, cycling, and beach activities available for landlubbers, the park has a unique set of 7 underwater hikes for snorkelers. Underwater signage and buoys explain the region’s flora and fauna, which includes starfish, octopus and sea anemones. Well-marked paths direct swimmers of any age as they observe Roman ruins, a reconstructed shipwreck or protected marine gardens. Guided visits are available and snorkelling equipment can be provided upon arrival.
