Parc Jarry

Boul St-Laurent, Montréal, QC H2R 2W1, Canada

Sandwiched between the neighborhoods of Villeray and Parc Extension, at the northern end of the city center, Jarry is one of the city’s best parks for amateur team sports – both for playing and for watching. Its facilities include softball courts, soccer fields, a hockey rink, a skate park, basketball courts, and, perhaps most unique in the city, a number of cricket pitches. Aside from the picturesque folly, and the lake filled with ducks in the summer and ice-skaters in the winter, locals head here for the public pool, to throw a Frisbee around in the vast open fields, to do rigorous bootcamp classes or to try their hand at rope walking between the trees. The park’s west side is dominated by Uniprix Stadium, home to the Rogers Cup every summer, as well as the dozens of public tennis courts, both indoor and out, that can be rented around the year. http://www.bonjourquebec.com/qc-en/attractions-directory/municipal-and-regional-park-nature-interpretation-centre/parc-jarry_5769669.html Photo: Susan Moss
