I managed to keep the surprise until we reached the top of Signal Hill. Ten minutes from the time we parked, my dad had taken flight over Cape Town on a tandem paragliding flight for his 65th birthday. Even easier than I anticipated, paragliding took us gently off the hill, over the City (one of only two places in the world where this is allowed - the other being Rio de Janeiro), clearing the Atlantic surf and then for a pillow landing on dry land. With competitive rates compared to other locales, if you’re visiting Cape Town, all you need is 30 minutes in your schedule to experience the gorgeous view and adventurous rush that is sailing over the City.
