Downstairs in the 1940s Paramount Pictures building, Golden Age Cinema features 60 Swiss seats made in the ’40s. In-the-know locals come to this former military screening room to see cult and contemporary films as well as special events and live music. Before or after the show, sip on movie-inspired cocktails, including a daily special crafted around that day's movie—think whiskey for the music documentary Muscle Shoals (the town of Muscle Shoals is on the Tennessee River). On street level, the Paramount Coffee Project is a big, sun-drenched space that specializes in artisan coffee, Asian-fusion food, and fun milkshake flavors like the Golden Gaytime and Tim Tam. On Saturday, a Locals Market transforms the back into a veggie shop. A boutique hotel is in the works for the building, and is scheduled to open in 2018.
