A Visit to the Jaguar Rescue Center
I am so thrilled that I was able to visit the Jaguar Rescue Center while I was in Puerto Viejo. This was by far the highlight of my entire trip to Costa Rica. I am a huge animal lover and I'm so proud of the JRC's efforts to help injured animals. It breaks my heart because the Jaguar Rescue Center receives NO government funding and are therefore funded by visitors ($15 for the tour) and private donations. So PLEASE visit this center if you are in the Puerto Viejo area. The tour is about 2 hours long and gives you the opportunity to interact with monkeys, sloths, toucans, snakes, lizards, white tailed deer, frogs and oceleot. I will remember this tour for the rest of my life.
