Papohaku Beach is a playground for the gods. Clear water and clean sand comprise this west end landmark, also known as "three mile beach." While the breaks are considered dangerous for swimming, the waves are fine for shallow venturing. Never crowded and beautiful from any angle, this beach is not to be missed.
Going westward on Maunaloa Highway (Route 460), pass the 14.5 mile marker and turn right on Kaluakoi Road. Proceed down the hill for about 5 miles. About 5 minutes past the Kaluakoi Villas, you will see a sign for Papohaku Beach Park. Turn right into the lot.
