Panteón de Belén

It may seem morbid but, in certain cities, cemeteries are worthwhile places to visit. In fact, some are so unique that they reflect important details about their community and its respective culture. Guadalajara’s Panteón de Belén is one such cemetery. Opened in the mid-19th century, it’s the final resting place of many of the city’s most distinguished residents. As such, it features several lavish tombs and mausoleums, notable for their variety of architectural styles. Visitors can take advantage of day and night tours, or attend twice-monthly conferences about the history of the pantheon and the people buried there.
