Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum
The Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum encompasses 3 million objects and artifacts about the Panhandle region within one classic, 1930s Art Deco edifice. Inside, you'll find everything from dinosaurs found in the Panhandle to a collection that brings the history of Texas oil to vivid life. Outside on the grounds is another historic structure: the Charles Goodnight House, built in 1877 for cattle drovers. You can often find "Cowboy Mike," otherwise known as Curator of Art and Western Heritage, Michael R. Grauer, quartered here, telling stories of pioneer days in the bold Texas Panhandle.
