Icebergs Antarctica

Icebergs can be classified both by size and on the basis of their shape. Many are tabular icebergs, which have steep sides and a flat top, much like a plateau. They can be enormous—tens of kilometers long—with a thickness of 200 to 400 meters (660–1,320 feet) and a height above the water of 30 to 50 meters (100–160 feet). Antarctica's icebergs form by breaking off from an ice shelf, such as the Larsen Ice Shelf.
