Palmar Combines Asian Flavors with Tropical Vibes in Wynwood, Miami
In Miami's celebrated Wynwood neighborhood where art is draped across every nook and cranny, is a new Asian restaurant, Palmar, which opened in 2018. The deep green square-building eatery is the brainchild of nationally-acclaimed Javier Ramirez and Leo Monterrey.
Upon entry, Palmar does not appear like your average Asian eatery. With bright red lanterns hanging from the ceiling and accents of green vegetation, the esthetic illustrates the eatery's nod to South Florida.
Pick a seat, order a beer and choose from the endless bowls of hearty goodness. I began with dumplings made up of local shrimp and chives in a flavorful broth. The dish was simple, in yet bursting with flavors.
We couldn't try Asian cuisine without rice, so we opted for an egg-fried rice with duck, scallions and a range of spices that we inhaled though each bite, while topping with soy sauce for additional notes aroma.
Along with rice, the Mongolian Beef with scallions and mushrooms was perfect for sharing with bits of scallions sprinkled over the top.
To conclude the meal, order a fragrant tea that the generous wait staff will prepare beautifully in a pot and let it steep for about five minutes. With every inhale the food easily digested and my palate was cleansed. To finish off the meal, green tea mochi was the perfect end to the evening.
