Look around any shop in Venice
and you'll see characteristic velvets and silks in all the colors of the rainbow. It was designer Mario Fortuny who first created the fluted fabrics that are still coveted by costume and fashion designers all over the world. His palazzo is now a museum where you can see his original designs, favored by Isadora Duncan and other free spirits, as well as rotating art exhibits in the historic rooms. The Venetia Studium shop, a separate enterprise, offers clothing and design in Fortuny's luxury style.
