Ovolo is an independent boutique hotel chain with properties in Hong Kong and Australia. Ovolo NoHo enjoys a superb location in the hip Sheung Wan neighborhood on Hong Kong Island, just steps away from the incense of Man Mo Temple and the antiques and trinkets of Cat Street and Hollywood Road. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, and Central is a short walk or MTR ride away. The rooms are small but perfectly formed, with a queen-size bed, free minibar (including a few beers), rain shower, and flat-screen TV complete with Apple TV (that you’ll have to watch from the bed). There’s a 6–8 p.m. happy hour every evening in the modern lobby/lounge, where beers, wines, spirits, and nibbles are all free. Breakfast, too, is complimentary: a decent buffet in the in-house cafe that includes cooked goodies such as bacon-wrapped sausages and zucchini eggs as well as fruit, pastries, juice, and coffee. The hotel also has a small gym and a free do-it-yourself laundry service. A particularly nice touch is that guests are set up with a Wi-Fi account that can be used around the city (not just in the hotel), and receive a welcome pack in advance that includes app suggestions. To top it all, the staff are friendly and extremely helpful.
