Acquaint yourself with the cultural and natural history of New Zealand's South Island at the Otago Museum in Dunedin. Besides extensive galleries on Maori and Pacific cultures, there are hands-on science exhibits and a three-level butterfly house. The museum is open daily; admission to the permanent collection is free, but there's a charge to get into the planetarium and Discovery World Tropical Forest, which includes the butterfly house.
