Venice in the Winter
As the winter solstice approaches, the light in Venice
becomes diffuse. Multistory buildings cast the city in deep cold shadows that allow the canals to reflect the clear blue sky. It's the off-season. Many shops will close after Christmas until the hoards of tourists return. But the incredible museums are open and there are never crowds or lines. Restaurants are the hungry ones, you can satiate yourself with the best Venice has to offer and be treated like royalty. It is cold. It can even snow, but walking is the way to get around and to keep warm. Dress for it and enjoy. Venice is just as beautiful chilled.
