On a visit to Cappadocia, it's a good idea to schedule some roaming around time. In all the canyons, there are adjoining valleys and everywhere little abandoned cave homes, old carved churches, gardens (still in use by the locals), grape vines, fruit trees and strange unlikely formations of the volcanic tufa rock. You only need to hike around to find them. And it's hard to get lost, just backtrack down the stream bed, water always leads to civilization. This little troglodyte village is in the canyon below Ortahisar, the "Middle Castle" town between Goreme and Urgup. If you stay in Ortahisar, in one of the lovely cave hotels, be sure to eat at Tandir Cafe. It has only outdoor seating that cascades down the side of the cliff and the best Turkish food!
