we just couldn't help the knock-knock jokes when we got off the local train in Pompei. This beauty of a stand was just outside the park entrance. The area is known for citrus fruit. Aside from the obvious choice of touring Pompei, there is much to do as you head south along the Amalfi Coast. We stayed in nearby Sorrento at the Minerva. Perched high over the harbor, it has stunning views. http://www.minervasorrento.com/ our very favorite place to eat was a romantic patio covered with a vine draped trellis that served amazing food - a must for dinner- http://www.lanticatrattoria.com/ and a drive down the Amalfi Coast through Positano to Amalfi and Ravello is as memorable driving at Le Mans (LOL) Stunning scenery, fabulous food, historic ruins and great shopping (limoncello!) make this one of my most recommended to friends destinations.
