Oldenbüttel Ferry
Oldenbüttel Ferry
Fourteen ferry crossings can be found along the length of the Kiel Canal, including one at the bucolic town of Oldenbüttel where the Gieselau Canal enters the larger Kiel. The quaint ferry named Audorf, with its small pilot’s house, looks like it has been lifted right out of a model train scene as it chugs across the water. This section of the canal passes through the Geest, a moraine landscape of gravel and heath that was an ancient trade and oxen route.
