This vast inland delta fed by the Okavango River comprises both permanent wetlands and seasonal floodplains. It’s a unique, fertile environment that attracts an astonishing variety of wildlife, including hippos, crocodiles, white and black rhinoceros, African wild dogs, and cheetah, a species specially earmarked for protection by The De Beers Group, which operates a Cheetah Conservation field unit in Botswana. While traditional land safaris in jeeps are de rigueur here, don't miss the chance to embark on a wetland safari in a mokoro, a dugout canoe paddled by knowledgeable local guides. Imagine floating through crystal clear waters while the sounds of the African bush fill the air around you: from this perspective low in the water, every reed and insect takes on a magically enlarged quality.
