Ojibwe Cultural FoundationWeave a basket, assemble a dream catcher, create porcupine art, taste local, plant-based fare, and dance at a pow-wow under the tutelage of Indigenous Elders at the Ojibwe Cultural Foundation on Manitoulin Island, Ontario. Hosting festivals, activities, and offering a hands-on museum, which tells the story of the Ojibwe (or Chippewa), Canada’s second largest First Nations group, the foundation serves as a significant purveyor of the community’s important history and story. A mandatory stop for visitors of all ages, this cultural centre has many exhibits that capture the interest of children, not to mention a kid-friendly website, Walking and Talking with Nanabush, which features Ojibwe stories and teachings in a modern, accessible format.
