We found Oishii Ramen on a cold and wet day. Notwithstanding the thermogenic effect of a warm bowl of soup, we could not pass up the potential of a pairing of Spanish pork with Japanese udon noodles. It seemed to me like an ethereal blend of the best ingredients. The end result did not disappoint and the ramen was smooth, creamy, and authentic and the pork was tender and moist. We drained the rioja wine and excitedly uttered “oishii,” perhaps with a bit of a Spanish inflection. It was the perfect intermission from the rich culinary delights of Madrid and afterwards I had the renewed strength to go out and find more to eat.
