Art Above the City
Just above the rough city edges of Recife lies a tranquil cultural retreat amidst the Atlantic Rainforest. Brazilian ceramicist, Francisco Brennand, transformed his families dilapidated pottery factory into his own workshop, museum and sculpture garden. The plantation-like grounds are beautifully landscaped with streams, gardens, fountains and Brennand's signature eccentric sculptures. While his seemingly Freudian underworld subject matter can be off putting to some, a stroll around the property as the sun's light shifts, is a relaxing escape from the bustling city.
