Every May in Ocean Grove, New Jersey families are busy erecting their tents. Tent City is a complex of 114 tents in which families spend their Summers in the seaside town of Ocean Grove. The tents are very popular and there is a wait list of up to ten years to get your tent. The families take part in community events and religious services. The tents encircle the Great Ocean Grove Auditorium which dates back to 1894.The community was started in 1869 as a Methodist revival center in Ocean Grove and on it’s sandy shores. The town is a nineteenth century delight. There are B & B’s, great restaurants, and great antique shops. Ocean Grove is open year round and the holidays are special times but if you want to be enthralled by the Tent City you need to visit in “Season” -Memorial Day to Labor Day.
