O Abocanhado: lunch with a view near Braga, Portugal
Gorgeous restaurant hidden in blink-and-you'll-miss-it Brufe village in the Bouro area.< a quick half an hour drive from Braga. Sazonal dishes, but menu will always include codfish and soft, delicious meat of local barrosã cattle. There's a fair selection of local wine and owner Maria Helena, natural from Porto (just 01h30 drive south) will gladly help you choose from a home made selection of deserts. The food is great, but better still is to wander around the mountains before the meal. Brufe is in the highlands of Portugal, 20 minutes from the border with Spain, facing the gorgeous, rural Rio Homem valley.
