Early Evening in Noto, Sicily
Noto lies in the southeast of Sicily. It was leveled by an earthquake in 1693, and rebuilt in ornate baroque style. One of the best times to visit is in late afternoon or early evening. The entire city is made of sandstone that glows like honey in the waning light. The stone is very soft, which is why the town is always in a state of repair.
